A body-based approach to restoring balance
Biodynamic massage is a core part of my therapeutic approach. For some clients, it’s woven into body psychotherapy sessions, where appropriate and with their full consent. For others, it’s experienced as a standalone treatment - offering a deeply restorative space to reconnect with the body and support physical and emotional balance.
Biodynamic support can be a powerful support for those engaged in longer-term therapeutic work, as well as those simply seeking a more embodied way to unwind and reset.
About biodynamic massage therapy
Biodynamic massage is a form of massage therapy that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing. It works with the whole of you - physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual - to support integration and ease, within the context of your life and relationships.
Biodynamic massage can be part of a wider body psychotherapy process, or experienced as a treatment in its own right.
This approach can be particularly supportive for people living with:
stress or emotional tension
IBS or digestive discomfort
muscle tightness or chronic pain
migraines, depression or anxiety
low immunity and sluggish lymphatic function
trauma — physical or emotional
a desire to reconnect with the body and feel more integrated
Biodynamic massage was developed by Gerda Boyesen - a psychologist, physiotherapist and Jungian analyst - and brought to the UK in the 1960s. The approach is grounded in a number of key ideas:
we are energetic beings
health improves when energy can move freely through the body
each person has the capacity to self-heal
illness often reflects a loss of harmony within ourselves or our environment
both past and present experiences may contribute to physical symptoms
What happens in a biodynamic massage?
A biodynamic massage therapist is trained in specialist techniques that help restore harmony in the body. Because every person is different, no two sessions are the same.
Biodynamic massage can be undertaken with clothes on or off. If you are comfortable removing clothing, I always take steps to preserve your dignity using towels to cover private areas.
During a session, you may experience a sense of integration - feeling more at home in your body. Muscle tension may begin to ease, and many people describe a deep sense of calm, wellbeing and relief afterwards.

“I felt very nurtured and also that Hannah picked up from me what I was needing at quite a deep level. I felt as though the needs that I hadn't even realised that I had, had been met.”
